Sanctuary of an island of Indonesia

There has been an increase in shark finning and manta ray hunting in the around the island of Raja Ampat in Indonesia. So Shark Savers and the Misool Eco Resort gathered 8,500 signatures on a petition requesting the formation of a sanctuary that cover the surrounding waters of the island. So now the sharks and manta rays have been given a santuary of 17,760 square miles as a reservation. The area is such a diverse area that not only sharks and manta rays will be protected but also sea turtles, dugongs, and other iconic animals. Hiring people to stand guard of the area will cost some money, but the money gained from ecotourism should help pay for the enforcement.

Powering Electronics with Water

This is a universal charger that can charge nearly any product with the power of water. And the LiteOn is breakthrough in using renewable energy to power your electronic needs. This charger is based on electromagnetic induction and is going to revolutionize the way you use electricity. It includes a spring which can be wound and once it is fully wound, it is set free and the energy is used to generate electricity. All the energy is stored in an onboard battery, which can be transferred to all your electronic devices by way of the universal power chords or USB port. And it has three LED bulbs, which can provide light in the form of a lamp to let you know when is is being charged to used.
This product is great and can be used as a great substitute for the conventional wall outlet. If you're on the go, this is what you want to have to keep everything charged and working when you wan it.

Eco Lager

The blog I read was about an eco lager than is made from organic hops and UK barley. Being an eco lager, it still gives nice head. It is quite crisp despited being full bodied and very refreshing. This lager is available in good alcoholic retailers in the U.S. for about $3.50.
My opinion of this product is that it is very eco-friendly and very tasteful (I assume). This product is the future of green alcoholic beverages. If every brewery would use organic hops and be more eco-friendly, we could cut down on greenhouse gases.

Grow Mushrooms from Books?

I read a blog by LifeGoggles about growing mushrooms in an old book. All you need is a starter kit which you can buy at Nigel's Eco Store. The kit contains: a pack of mushroom starter spawn, filter grow-bag, and full instructions. I find this to be an incredible idea. It is better than throwing out an old book and will help you grow your own mushrooms, which you can eat or turn into styrene. This clearly relates to class because we were just talking about replacing styrofoam with mushrooms. Mushrooms will help to make packaging materials and can be used as a different source of styrene.
I tried putting a picture in here but it was being ignorant, so if you want to see pictures, go to one of the following links: (They are really neat.)

Cheap and Environmentally-Friendly Bath

I found this link on Google Reader. I was scrolling down to find an article to use for my blog when I stumbled upon this photo. It made me laugh, and then I realized that I could use it for my blog. It is a guy using a back hoe to take a bath. He is merely using some pond water, a back hoe, and some fire. He does not use a hot water heater or waste any water. white trash repairs - Bath Time
My personal opinion of this article is that it is quite disgusting and would probably get too hot after a while, so bathe fast I guess. I would probably never do this or even consider doing this.
This article is relevant to what we are doing in class because talks about saving water and not using unnecessary resources.

Collapsible Water Bottle

I read an article posted by TreeHugger about a collapsible water bottle called Aquatina. This is the world's first collapsible water bottle, and it fits in your pocket. It was first seen on a t.v. show called Dragon's Den, but now it will be released to the market this month. This bottle is PET and BPA free so it can be re-used; it is also dishwasher safe. It holds 500 mL and collapses to 30% of its size.
I personally love this invention. I think it will sell fast and everybody will want one. They may be a tad on the expensive side, but soon lots of people will have one.
This topic relates to what we are talking about now because it is EPA and BPA free so it will not destroy the environment, plus it is reusable so they won't get thrown out into some landfill.
